Ibyiwacu cultural village

The Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village is found in Musanze district of Rwanda in Ruhengeri on the out skirts of the Volcanoes National Park.The cultural village offers a community walk to all visitors coupled with many activities in the region.Visitors are engaged and shown the different cultural behaviours of the Banyarwanda people.

Farming activities,mock hunting,banana beer making, millet grinding on a flat shaped stone,cattle raring,potatoe growing and the traditional food preparation.

The iby'iwacu village also entertains visitors at a reprica of the kings palace of the Nyanza province.All travelers are welcomed to the kings palace with the royal guards shielding arrows,spears while praising the king high.

From the visitors,some members could be chosen to become King and Queen of the day.The chosen persons will be dressed in the royal regalia and crowned king and queen with the subjects entertaining his majesty and queen.Guards will be surrounding and guarding the Kings palace and Queen of the day.The Medicine man will welcome the king, preparing the medicine for the King and Queen in case any one got sick.

A fire will be lit in the palace to show the existance of the King in the palace.Dancers will always converge to entertain the guests to the palace.

A mock traditional marriage is carried out in the kings palace with both the bride and groom's parents meeting and escorting the groom to the bride's family,therefater bringing the bride to the  family of her newly found love in the presence of all family members.

The Iby'iwacu community benefits from the crafts made and sold to the travelers who usually buy from them.It is alleged that some of the community members used o be poachers in the volcanoes National Park.
